What is the difference?
Wellness Careers explained
A coach is someone who uses their knowledge helping others explore their goals and ambitions, and then achieve them. This may be in many areas of life, including health, fitness, emotional or spiritual evolvement. Coaches take on the role of a leader who helps others to set goals in their lives. Coaches are there to guide, motivate, encourage and teach.
What is a Coach?
What are the differences in the courses that we offer?
We have courses that suit all types of individuals that are looking to enter the Health, Wellness and Fitness Industry or upskill their current knowledge. This field is expanding and we are now seeing a shift towards a more holistic form of movement and helping people achieve their goals in all aspects of their lives.
Get Excited to Do what you Love!
Personal Trainers and Fitness Instructors work with clients on predominantly their exercise. They help clients having difficulties finding motivation to become active, achieve a specific fitness goal, or help clients that feel overwhelmed by "healthy eating". If you are the person who enjoys helping clients in the gym; working with a wide variety of isolation and whole body exercise, increase lean muscle mass and helping to give an accountability system to achieve physical goals and/or sustain a weight loss/management journey then you want to become a fitness instructor and/or personal trainer.
Wellness Coach - Is this for Me?
The Move Academy Wellness Coach Certificate is for individuals looking to work in the industry but do not want to become just a personal trainer. We will teach the fundamentals of exercise and anatomy and nutrition as through the course you will gain the fitness instructor qualification as well as further knowledge in understanding the factors that influence health and fitness, the scientific basis of health promotion, balanced diet and nutrition, communication, and how to be able to help clients in all aspects of their lives.
Why Become a Health Coach
"I got my personal training cert first, followed by the Health Coach cert. I think that they all compliment each other. The exercise and human body knowledge combined with how to understand people's behaviour was very valuable. I am treating the "whole" person when I work with my clients so I think we need the most tools we can to be able help them." Christine B
Health Coach or Lifestyle Coach?
Health coaches are individuals that want to be more than a personal trainer or already have a personal training qualification that wish to add further qualifications to. We combine the personal training qualification and Diploma in Health, Fitness and Exercise Instruction knowledge to help you develop individualised strategies for improving your clients health; exercise and eating.
Lifestyle coaches focus on the individuals entire life. This area focuses on personal growth as well as the health and exercise aspects of life. Life coaches help to identify a person’s passion and purpose in order to create an awareness around what drives that individual so that goal-setting can be personalizsed.
Difference Between a Health Coach and Lifestyle Coach
Though many similar skills and applications are used in both lifestyle and health coaching, they remain separate with one building on the other as further skills are learned. Lifestyle coaching may incorporate areas of focus representative of health coaching, such as teaching stress management tools and implying the importance of healthy habits like diet, nutrition, exercise and sleep. They can overlap, but keep in mind that lifestyle coaching is more focussed on personal and professional goals while Health coaching is more physical motivation and condition related.
